First-place team takes home $16,830 in cashJUNE 21, 2008, Freeport, NY – A 414-pound Thresher shark caught by Angler Thomas Cook on the My Three Suds has won the 36th Annual Freeport Hudson Anglers Shark Tournament. Capt. Andrew Cook and his crew Thomas Cook, Chris Cook, Larry McGeevy, Doug Mendez and Doug Kell were awarded $16,830 for 1st. place. The Thresher was one of about 31 sharks weighed in at the Town of Hempstead Guy Lombardo Marina this evening at the Tournament’s close. Other prize-winning fish included:
A total of 180 fishing teams participated in this year’s tournament, one of the oldest and largest shark-fishing tournaments on Long Island. Over $140,000 was given out in prize and Calcutta. |
